Friday, February 15th, Day 1, B Week

Students who would like to participate in spring sports must register on line through the FamilyID site. Please make sure the nurse has your current physical on file.

If you haven’t picked up your Driver’s Education Certificate please do so in Dr. Artiles’ office.

Fun Facts- Today is the 11th day of Chinese New Year. On this day of Chinese New Year in Binyang County, Guangxi, an elaborate dragon dance festival is held called Pao Long Jie (炮龙节). This is one of the largest dragon dance festivals in the world with the shortest dragons being up to 40 meters long. At this festival, firecrackers accompany the dragon dances.

New Phrase - 有借有还,再借不难 (yǒu jiè yǒu huán, zài jiè bù nán). It is a classic idiom that means that if you return what you borrowed on time, you will be able to easily borrow it again next time.

Thursday, February 14th, Day 2, B Week

Art Honor Society will be selling Dippin Dots today during the lunch periods for $4.

The Environmental Club is excited to add a new component to Battle of the Classes. We will be recycling paper, and the grade that brings in the most paper will win points for their class during Battle. Boxes, labeled by grade, will be located outside the cafeteria. Students are encouraged to add paper that needs to be recycled to the boxes any time between February 11th and March 1st. Please, no staples.

The High School Library will be closed today.

VolunTeens will be sponsoring a pizza sale today after school in the front circle lobby. The charge is $3 per slice and donations will support Island Harvest Food Pantry.

Fun Facts- Today is the 9th day of Chinese New Year and the birthday of the Jade Emperor! He is the supreme deity of Taoism and on this day, Chinese people usually will abide by a set of taboos and offer sacrifices for the Jade Emperor. Two such taboos are not hanging out wet clothes to dry or taking out the garbage.

New Phrase-  心想事成 (xīn xiǎng shì chéng). It is commonly used during Chinese New Year to wish others the best of luck in fulfilling their wishes.

Monday, February 11th, Day 2, B Week

Congratulations to the Jericho VEX Robotics Team 9932F for winning the Design Award this weekend at the Vaughn College VEX Robotics Turning Point Competition. With nearly 50 registered teams they were recognized and awarded for their outstanding work as a robotics team. This award now qualifies them to compete at the NYS Competition in March.
